How you will study
- Study one learning block. Use its assigned provider lesson when one has been verified. Where no suitable assignment has been verified, study the required ITForMe teaching. Other explanations and guided practice remain available for support.
- Confirm study and take its short check. Opening a page or provider link does not complete a block. A passing current check is required for course progress.
- Review and continue. Today suggests the next activity using your study and review history. Review helps you revisit earlier concepts while you learn new material.
Follow traffic from the endpoint through each device, protocol, and service in the path.
Follow a connection through the OSI layers
This is a short excerpt of ITForMe concept notes. It shows the kind of explanation available here; it is not the complete lesson or a scored check.
- Physical layer
- Carries individual bits as electrical, optical, or radio signals over cables or wireless media; it does not interpret frames or addresses.
- Data link layer
- Forwards frames between devices on the same local network by having Ethernet switches read destination MAC addresses.
- Network layer
- Forwards packets from one IP network to another as routers read destination IP addresses and consult routing tables.
- Transport layer
- Uses TCP or UDP port numbers to deliver data between applications on different hosts; TCP also provides reliable ordered delivery and flow control.
Applied practice: Sketch a small network or packet path. Predict the expected state, introduce one fault, and identify the observation that isolates it.

Review status and preparation limits
0 of 25 objective lessons currently have named independent subject-matter review. Internal and automated checks are separate from that review. Question and practice-scenario review status is shown on those activities.
